According to Ayurveda human body is made up of space, air, fire, water and earth, which are present in the cosmos and they work as three energies known as tridosha, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Although they regulate thousands of separate functions in the mind/body system, they have three basic functions. The lifestyle and eating habits of an individual should maintain the three dosha’s in balance. An imbalance creates mental and physical disturbance in human body.
1. Vata (air
+ ether/space) - Movement
Vata means "That which moves things."
Vata is space and air. It is the
dosha that moves kapha and pitta. It governs
movement such as breathing, heart pulsations and
all expansion and contraction of the body from
cells to joints. It is thought of as the powerful
dosha as it is the life force and governs subtle
energies and all biological movement.

things." The elements that govern
